How it works

Here is where the $573.60 comes from.

Employer savings statement

The gross reduction and the net employer savings are not the same number.

$91.80 is the gross monthly reduction in employer payroll taxes. After the $44 program administration cost, $47.80 remains as net monthly employer savings.

How is the $91.80 calculated?

For wages subject to both employer Social Security and Medicare taxes, the calculation applies the 7.65% employer rate to a $1,200 monthly pre tax amount: $1,200 × 7.65% = $91.80.

The 7.65% rate combines the 6.2% employer Social Security rate and 1.45% employer Medicare rate. Social Security is subject to an annual wage base, while Medicare is not. Payroll review confirms how those taxes apply across the employer's actual workforce.
